Role Description:
This senior level site purchasing agent position requires the work to be done independently with minimal management support and supervision to handle intermediate issues. The position requires strong knowledge of the products being procured, stakeholder needs, use of procurement processes, communication skills and problem solving. This role must be able to recommend solutions for significant problems and provide supporting data analyses and rationale. This role must build positive customer and supplier relationships, works effectively with team members, peers and management.
Execute tactical purchasing functions, contributing to the achievement of Global Procurement objectives and goals, according to procurement policies, global category contracts and strategies, procedures, processes, guidelines and regulations.
Initiate and utilize collaborative networks with internal business partners and the relevant procurement organizations.
Assures uninterrupted and efficient flow of requested materials and services through utilization of lean processes and automation
Execute local procurement strategies, contracts and supplier relationship management strategies in close collaboration with stakeholders and within the framework established by the Global Category Management Team
Utilize and optimize the site requisition to payment process
Collaborate with peers and leaders to continuously improve processes in compliance with the Global Procurement infrastructure standards
Support global and regional category management teams as needed (e.g., qualify local suppliers, data requirements, etc.)

Responsibilities:
Executes purchases for all indirect materials and services through existing Bemis global, national or regional purchasing agreements or understandings
Sources and executes purchases for all indirect materials or services not otherwise contractually covered (local purchases, non-agreement purchases, unique materials)
Utilizes the internal purchasing systems and standard purchasing procedures
Issues RFQ process with suppliers and, working with supported sites, determines best total cost of ownership
Monitors and reviews pricing from suppliers
Supports the activities of other purchasing agents
Interfaces with other departments to help select appropriate materials or services
Resolves supply, pricing, quality, delivery and any other issues with suppliers
Identifies, evaluates and reports cost take out opportunities, sharing relevant information with other purchasing agents and Bemis Global Procurement colleagues.
Views procurement from a wider perspective toward multi-site and initiates project work which contributes to cost take out objective
Anticipates and plans for material shortages or service stoppages; troubleshoots supply problems
Collaborates with other purchasing agents to improve purchasing processes
Performs administrative duties as required, i.e., maintain files, records and internal systems
Provides back-up coverage for other purchasing agents at other locations as neededEducation & Experience Required
Requirements for Education and
Experience:
Related Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of formal education and work experience
3 - 7 years of experience in purchasing or related field in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge of purchasing computer systems (SAP & Ariba a plus); strong, working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
Proven, excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills, math aptitude
Experience in handling confidential information
